Bibiana M. DeWitt

DeWitt, Bibiana M., 93, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 in her home. Bibiana was born August 8, 1923 in Mercer County, Ohio to Adolph and Cune (Klingshirn) Stammen. She earned her Master's Degree in Education from Wright State University, and received her Nursing Degree from St. Rita's Hospital in Lima, OH. She worked in nursing for many years, and later taught at Enon Elementary for over 30 years. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, was a volunteer at the Clark State Performing Arts Center and was an avid gardener and participant at the Community Garden at Jefferson Oasis. She is survived by one daughter, Rosemary Cox; special friend, Frank Nickelson; two grandsons, James (Aileen) and Jerome Cox; three great grandchildren, Jimmie, Andy and Corrina Cox; two sisters, Jovita (Sylvester) Broerman and Fabiola Doan; one sister-in-law, Dallie DeWitt; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James, in 1967; two sisters, Sister Hedwig Stammen, CPPS, and Sylvia Serey; and one brother, Gerald Stammen. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME with rosary service at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Bernard Catholic Church with Fr. John MacQuarrie officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
