Barbara J. Powers

POWERS, Barbara J., 75, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015 in Eaglewood Village. She was born October 16, 1939 in Springfield the daughter of Carl and Rachel (Dyer) Johnson. She had worked as a secretary at Navistar for 31 years retiring in 1995. After retiring from Navistar she worked as a substitute teacher at Springfield City Schools. She also spent many years working alongside her husband for Zebco and the Drug Awareness Program for the state Elks. Survivors include her husband of over 56 years, Daniel L.; three daughters, Kim & Greg Massie, South Vienna, Cindy & James Money and Mindy Davis, both of Springfield; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one brother, Walter "Bucky" & Shirley Johnson and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12:00 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Scott Griswold officiating. Burial will follow in Enon Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
