Arthur S. "Stew" Fairbanks

FAIRBANKS, Arthur "Stew", Jr., 85 of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2016 following an extended illness, bringing to end a life well lived. He was born September 12, 1930 in Youngstown, Ohio the son of Arthur S. and Elsie (Yates) Fairbanks. Stew leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Pat (Groeber) and over 40 progeny & spouses spanning three generations, including his children: Ken Fairbanks (Nancy+10) of Delaware; Dave Fairbanks (Angie+9) of Springfield, Sue Benson (Dick+6) of Rifle; CO; Dick Fairbanks (Julie+5) of Cincinnati; Don Fairbanks (Anne+1) of Wantagh, NY. He is also survived by a sister, Kay (Barry) Shaide, Brunswick, OH and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served his country proudly for 38 years as a member of the Army National Guard. He was an active Mason for 50+ years as a member of Kissell Lodge in Springfield. We will miss his easy smile, tinkering ways and inconsistent short game. Friends may call from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday in the CORNOY FUNERAL HOME. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to St. Vincent DePaul or Wounded Warriors.
