LIMING, Alfred J. "A.J.", 88 of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2014 in Villa Springfield following complications of Alzheimer's. He was born September 28, 1926 in New Sharon, Iowa the son of Charles and Esther (Adkins) Liming. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Central College, Pella, IA and a Masters of Arts in Social Work from the University of Iowa. A.J. served as the executive director of the Family Service Agency of Springfield and Clark County for 24 years, retiring in 1978. Serving in the 2nd Division of the U.S. Marine Corp, A.J. participated in the occupation of Japan. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Shirley (Miller); son John and his wife, Juli Liming, Defiance, OH; two granddaughters, Sarah and Katherine; one sister, Betty Stanley, Oskaloosa, IA and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. A Graveside Service will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Second Harvest Food Bank.
