NEU, Ada L. (Zappe), 87, of Springfield, Ohio passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family on Monday, January 26, 2015. Ada was born on September 13, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois, the only child of Harry and Bernice (Larash) Wall. Due to her father being in upper management with Montgomery Ward, she spent much of her youth relocating in several different states. She attended 7 schools during her first 8 years. This constant moving created her characteristics of making new friends so easily and accepting everyone with open arms. She graduated from Grandview High School in Columbus, Ohio. While attending The Ohio State University, she met and married Richard S. Zappe and began growing her family. Three months pregnant with her sixth child, in 1961, Richard died suddenly of a heart attack. In 1965, she met Clyde E. Neu and they wed shortly thereafter. What was he thinking? Marrying a woman with all these children! It was true love and he was a gift from God. Ada loved to golf, play tennis, bridge, and listen and sing to her favorite music. She was a member of The Young Woman's Mission. She loved socializing with her many friends, and always looked forward to going to the Charity Ball, GOTA, and their annual Christmas candy-making parties. Mostly, she loved her children and especially her eleven grandchildren. She spent countless hours at the kitchen table sharing her philosophies on life, which stemmed from her strong faith in the Catholic Church. Ada is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Richard S. Zappe and Clyde E. Neu, sister-in-law Dolly Neu, sons Ritchie and Stephen, and daughter, Dianna. She is survived by her brother-in-law Robert Neu, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shirley and Tom Carter, daughters, Carole (Scott) Wilson, Julie Wade, son Andrew (Cheryl) Zappe, grandchildren, Shawn Cook (Jeni Messer), Brok Wilson, Sarah Saunders, Amanda and Stephanie Wade, Nicholas (Elizabeth), and Lucas Zappe, Jason (Krihstin), and Christopher Zink, Michelle (Shawn) Raynor, and Zachary McElreath, four great grandchildren, and many special nieces and nephews. Special thank you to Dr. Ericksen's office, and for the exceptional care from Soin Medical Center and Vitas Hospice Care. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Friday in St. Raphael Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Raphael Church Restoration Fund.
