Most of you reading this will not know who I am, Bill and I have been friends since he moved into Springfield proper in 68 or 69; hard to remember it's been a long time. I won't bore you with the details of those times but there are a lot of stories as you can well imagine. I wanted to share with you a particular time in our friendship. In March 1983 I had a pretty bad motorcycle accident and was in Mercy Hospital for two months. Bill was at that hospital every day no matter what he had going on in his own life. I wasn't able to even smell hospital food without gagging, but Bill wanted to make sure I ate so he would bring something different everyday and we finally figured out that Kentucky Fried Chicken was the only thing I could keep down and he made sure I had some everyday. Well I finally made it out of the hospital and before long my insurance ran out and my wife and I split up and I found myself living at my Dads house in Springfield, I wasn't able to work and hadn't any money, Bill knew this so he would come by every morning, pick me up and take me to work with him. I was little if any help at all but at the end of everyday he would slip me some money and thank me for my help. Your Father and Brother was a truly good man and friend to myself and many others.

So much I want to say but I can’t seem to find the words. Bill, you were loved by so many people. And so many times you were there for me. As a friend, as a shoulder to cry on. I will not say Goodbye to you, I will simply say Till we meet again. Love you and Miss you. And as you and I would always say “Don’t tell Mom” lol

- Tina Hillyard, Monday January 15th, 2018

Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Where does anyone start to describe the amazingly great person you were?!! No amount of any written words seem to do you justice. All I know is you were one of a kind. Always willing to listen, always looking out for everyone and always willing to help. You will be missed beyond measure. R.I.H. my dear friend <3

- Jen B., Monday January 15th, 2018

Sunday January 14th, 2018

You drove me crazy night after night, you came in an hour or two before closing time just so you could get your daily dose of irritating me, you never quit pestering me until I started cracking back and cussing you, you wouldn’t let me go on vacation without sending me text “Where are you at?” “What are you doing?” “Are you having fun without me?” We have argued back and forth for over 25 years and if I didn’t show up for work when I was supposed to, you were the first to text “Everything all right?” Man I’m gonna miss you and your your pain in the *%#* ways!!!!!

Not enough words to express the type of man Bill was, or to describe the joy he brought to everyone who knew him.... He was a TRUE FRIEND, and a GOOD MAN....Every where he went he made people smile...if only for a minute,,, or for a lifetime... The void you leave behind will be felt very deeply by all that knew you, yet while we are wiping our tears we will be laughing and smiling remembering and celebrating him and the memories he has given each of us...and one he leaves with me is " who's gonna drop everything, jump in their car, hit the gas,get there fast, never stopping to say, what's in it for me. Ya find out who your friends are"....and he ALWAYS CAME and I am very proud to say. ..HE WAS MY FRIEND

- Debbie Sarven, Thursday January 11th, 2018

Bill was one of the few guys who took the time to take this girl under his wing and help her learn to ride her new motorcycle. He became a good friend at a time I really needed one. He got me through a really rough time, and made me laugh. He will be greatly missed.

- Anne Neff, Thursday January 11th, 2018

I am sure the party is on in Heaven! Bill was a hoot, but if you needed something, you could count on him! The family is in my thoughts and prayers, as I am sure your heart is breaking. Just remember the good times. Fly High Wild Bill

- Sheryl Roddy, Thursday January 11th, 2018

Bill was an amazing Father and friend. There was never a time that he wouldn't lend a helping hand, and if he wasn't able to do it himself he'd find someone who could and bring them to "the rescue". He had such an infectious laugh and could always cheer you up when you were down. Bill lived life to the fullest, he lived it HIS way. He never knew a stranger, and once you met him he became a lifelong friend. This man will truly be missed by those he left behind on this earth, but he will always live on because we will keep his memory alive. The only comfort we can grasp right now is that he is in a much better place than we are, his illnesses healed, enjoying an eternity of perfection. Amber, Bonnie, Bill jr., Alan....my heart goes out to you, my thoughts and prayers for peace and comfort go up for you. Your dad will always be there, loving, guiding and protecting you .... you can count on that. My sincerest condolences. Leanna Stoll

We never had the opportunity to meet William, but we know his son Alan, and daughter Amber. We love both of them and their families very much. We want to let them know we are sending them our love and prayers, and pray the Lord comforts them and their families through this time of grief and heartache as only He can. He knows exactly how to wrap them in His arms, and circle them with His love and grace. May His peace surround you in the days ahead. Our condolences and blessings to all of you. Love & prayers. Heaven gained another soul a wonderful brother who would do anything in the world for anyone. You were the most amazing brother that his sister could ever ask for. We grew up in a very hard way but we always seem to make it through, those extremely hard times. The world just isn’t going to be the same and Billy, you’re one of those people that are never going to be forgotten because you’ve left one heck of a legacy. Ever since mom died you and I have grown ever more close, And it’s gonna be so hard to not get those messages that I’ve gotten from you almost every day since mom‘s death. Those 12:01 AM phone calls on my birthday so you could be the first one to wish me happy birthday, never knowing you almost the only one who did. I’m really going to miss that because I never liked celebrating my birthday until those phone calls started and now unfortunately those are over. How am I ever going to get through them now? Billy I don’t know whole a whole lot more to say except I love you I’m going to miss you and thank you for being the best brother a sister could ever have. All the advice and confidence that you’ve given me to do what I was put on this earth to do and do it well. And for bringing love back into my life which is something I never thought would happen but it did thanks to you. Give mom making P and confidence that you’ve given me to do what I was put on this earth to do. And for bringing love back into my life which is something I never thought would happen but it did thanks to you. Give mom Mickey and Patti a kiss for me and most of all give her dad the biggest hug that you can for me tell my love them and I really love you to sleep peacefully my brother William E Arnold Jr.
