TULLY, John Gannon, 67, of Springfield passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on October 28, 2017. John was born January 5, 1950 in Rockville Center, New York, the son of John P. and Patricia (Gannon) Tully. A gifted writer, he worked as a marketing director for Select-Arc for a number of years and Parker Advertising and Bauer Brothers prior to that. John was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church where he was in the choir and served as a lector. John also supported the community as a United Way representative for Bauer, serving on the Springfield Arts Council, and coaching numerous youth sports teams. He was also a United States Navy veteran, stationed in Rota, Spain. John enjoyed playing and watching sports, was an avid fan of his alma mater Boston College, enjoyed reading and learning about history, as well as attending theater and movies. John delighted his friends with his very witty and clever Christmas letter each year. But what was most important to John was his family. A dedicated and attentive father to David and Katie, he always supported and took pride in his children. He was a wonderful husband and partner in life to his wife Debbie. Survivors include his wife, Deborah (Imri); two children, David Tully, Washington, DC and Katie & Tim Sheehan, Chicago, IL; one granddaughter, Anne; three siblings, Meg & Joe Scholl, Medway, MA, Jay & Debbie Tully, Amherst, NH and Jim & Rachel Tully, West Simsbury, CT and numerous nieces and nephews. He also was blessed with very close and supportive friends who were very important to him and sustained him in these last days. Many thanks to Ohio Hospice for making the last few weeks much easier. His family is especially grateful to the doctors at Ohio State University James Cancer Center who did so much to help him during his struggle, particularly Dr. Amit Agrawal and his team who showed great compassion and love as well as excellent medical care. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Tara Tully. Friends may call from 4pm to 7pm on Friday, November 3rd at the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 4th at 10:30am at St. Raphael Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Raphael Choir, c/o St. Raphael Church, 225 E High St, Springfield, OH 45505, or James Cancer Research at the Ohio State University Head and Neck Cancer Research, https://cancer.osu.edu/research-and-education/departments-and-divisions/department-of-internal-medicine/division-of-medical-oncology/giving-back

John was honestly one of the kindest people we have ever met. Specific memories of him for us was his welcoming hospitality during a very competitive yet fun Trivial Pursuit marathon. His love for his family was very apparent and that was reflected in probably the best father of the bride speech we have ever heard. Praying that all of the wonderful memories of a life well done will sustain you and your family in the days ahead, Deb. Love to all, Cathy & Mike
