I'm so sorry--I didn't know about the passing of Pastor Pollock! My deepest heartfelt sympathy to Gina & the Family! What a tremendous loss! Pastor Pollock always delighted me with his story-filled sermons. His stature, his smile, his sense of humor, his accent, and his cowboy boots were ALL him! I will always remember him. He was truly loved.

What a wonderful man, his life just shined with the light of Jesus Christ in all he said and did. I remember the 1st time I met him. I was working patrol, as a Griffith Police Officer, and pulled him over for not using his turn signal, in a residential neighborhood, late at night. I did not recognize his vehicle and used that as probable cause to find out who he was. I learned he was the minister at the Griffith Lutheran Church and he lived in the neighborhood. An instant friendship was born and we joked often about the day I stopped him for being a suspicious person in his own neighborhood. What a blessing he was to so many. The world is a better place, because he was here. My prayers go out to his family, may God comfort them in their time of grief.

Gina, Aaron, Matthew and Joel... I am so sorry you lost your hubby, dad, mentor and all around good guy! We at Hopeful Lutheran loved John, he was a true servant of the Lord, and mentor to many youth. When one of our son’s was in the hospital, John came to, came in sat down, crossed his legs with his cowboy boots taking up half the room and had a good discussion with my son and all of us in the room. It was a time (of many) of fond remembrances. He was a good Pastor of his flock, just a fun guy and a phenomenal preacher. So sorry your time with him in his retirement has been cut short, but you know where he is, you know Jesus said to him “well done good and faithful servant”. I treasure the memories I have of him when he was at Hopeful.. may you all find the peace that John as preached about all of his life and has found himself. Lovingly... Sherry
