GUTIERREZ, Jose T., 85, of Springfield, passed away Monday, February 22, 2021 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. Jose was born November 8, 1935 in Zacatecas, Mexico to Francisca (Luna) Gutierrez. He was the patriarch of the family and loved spending time with his countless grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was also a member of St. Bernard Church. He is survived by four children, Lupe (Lonnie) Curtis, Rosario Thomas, Mario (Heather) Gutierrez and Marcelino (Heather Smith) Gutierrez; numerous grandchildren, including Kevin (Ani), Natasha (Karl), Amanda, Alyssa, Allison, Jacob, Caleb, Daniel, Alexis, Dominick, Jazmin, Mya, Jose, Esabel, Jamara (Rodney), Paula, Fawn, Audrey, Joshua and Elizabeth; numerous great grandchildren; one great-great grandson. He was preceded in death by a son, Jose Antonio; and a daughter, Kim Ann. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by CONROY FUNERAL HOME.


Just the sweetest man, ever. From the first time I met him, I could just feel his warmth and feel the love of his family for him. It was amazing to see everyone make a point to ‘catch up with him’ and show him/receive from him so much love. May God’s light, your love for one another and the spirit of this amazing man, keep you and carry you through this ‘season of wilderness.’ What a magnificent Guardian Angel, now watching over us, (some will certainly say, “that ain’t no different...that’s just him”) Blessings Deep Breaths Hearts Love to You All.

Mr. Jose was always so kind to me no matter what time of night after a fishing trip . His smile was definitely a mood changer . I remember watching the Tyson vs McNeely fight at his house . Mr. Jose will be truly missed by all whoever met him . My condolences to the family it definitely was a pleasure to know Mr.Jose Prayers and good thoughts to you all especially Dom , Danny and Alexis (Pocahontas) and Marcie love you all for life .
